Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was named the chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the weapons control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
